How to read a Cognac label ?

About aging, there are only three steps recognized by law:
-VS (Very Special) or 3 stars: eau-de-vie must have been aging in oak barrelsfor a minimum of 2 years before being blended and bottled.
-VSOP or RESERVE: ( Very Superior Old Pale) minimum of 4 years.
-XO (Extra Old), Napoleon ... : minimum of 6 years of aging in oaok barrels.

Grande Champagne is the best eau-de-vie to be aged, Pierre de Segonzac use far older eau-de-vie than requested by law. Pierre de Segonzac doesn't sell any VS for example. Not old enough to reach Pierre de Segonzac standard.
Fine Champagne on a label means that the Cognac comes from Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne on a 50 % basis. Pierre de Segonzac produce only 100 % Grande Champagne.
